The mirena coil has stopped my periods its not done anything to the rest of my PCOS symptoms. The hormones in the mirena only work locally around the ovary and uterus area and very little enters the blood stream so it's unlikely to help with your symptoms and I can't really see the point in having it in for a year.

2011-10-28 · After having the Mirena put in I have developed PCOS. The Mirena has also caused a small amount of cervical erosion in which causes me to bleed lightly during sex. Other side effects I have been experiencing is constant spotting (at least 4 days + per week), bad cramping and I cannot lose any weight no matter how hard I try.

I can't feel my Mirena, except when I reach for the strings to check placement each month, so I hardly know it's there.
I went ahead with the Mirena and it has been a godsend for me.
